Merapi Dipasangi Mikrofon Infrasonik Jepang

(art)

VIVAnews - Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) obtained a three microphone infrasonic assistance to help the process of monitoring the activities of Mount Merapi.

Infrasonic microphones will soon be installed to enhance the monitoring of active volcanic activity in Indonesia was to be known graph Merapi activity faster and better.

Tools that help from four experts from Japanese volcanic namely, Prof. Kenji Nogami, Prof. Masato Iguchi, Takayuki Kaneko and Satoru Ishii.

Infrasonic microphones had been installed at the volcano in Japan. Installation of infrasonic microphones will also be conducted at Mount Krakatoa and Semeru.

One of Japan's volcanic expert, Prof. Masato Iguchi said, the eruption of Mount Merapi has invited the attention of researchers world, so he along with three experts volcanic came to Yogyakarta to try to come to understand the phases of Merapi.

"This tool is able to record changes in the top trim of the sound system is removed. Very helpful when Merapi summit shrouded in fog," he explained, Friday, November 12, 2010.

Merapi eruption in 2010 changed the type of eruption when compared to before 2006. "We will provide assistance to PVMBG of the scientific side," he said.

Meanwhile, the head of Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation, Surono explained, by means of infrasonic microphones that will be obtained more accurate data graph. Because, as observed in the field officers had never heard of the eruption, but only detect vibrations.

"This tool is able to catch the wave of air pressure caused the eruption of Mount Merapi," he said.

With additional equipment, it is expected that incoming data will be easily analyzed as additional statistical data are accurate about the activity and amount of eruption. "So not only based on visual observations and tools on a seismograph," he said. (Art)
